Corporal Freddie Stowers, who lived in Sandy Springs, SC, was a squad leader during WW1. He was a squad leader of the 371 infantry regiment that lead the battle at Hill 188 in 1918 and one of the first few regiments that started the battle.

In 1918, a regiment was able to stop an attack by an enemy in France by holding and eventually capturing a place called Hill 1888. His heroic acts would eventually earn him a medal of honor which is one of the highest medals in service.

In the Battle of Hill 188, he was injured, but continued to urge his soldiers to continue. He was determined to win the battle and held the regiment together until the enemy was defeated. This would also secure the Hill 188 as well.

Years later Corporate Freddie Stowers would be awarded the medal of honor due to his actions during the battle.
